Perfectly placed for Adventure

We are in the perfect location to offer you the best of Cavan. Castlehamilton is a historic site located next to the Killykeen Forest Park and near Farnham Estate. In addition to being a true paradise for fishermen, Killeshandra is also a popular destination for golfers, canoists, hikers, cyclists, birdwatchers, wildlife lovers and lovers of the great outdoors. .

Cavan is the beautiful land of lakes in the middle of our island. This is a place away from it all - but not that far away from anywhere.

“An Cabhan” is an old Irish word meaning “The Hollow” – and in a simple way that says a lot about this place. Cavan is a refuge, a place to rejuvenate, a shelter from stress.

How relaxing or invigorating do you want your stay to be? You decide.. We organise!

Watersports

We have an abundance of guides locally to facilitate canoeing and kayaking related activities in County Cavan.
Ask us to organise this or bring your own boards etc.
Located in the heart of the county’s lakelands, we are ideally placed for adventures on the water!
Locally Cavan adventure Centre offers customers the unique opportunity to explore the area’s waterways, landscape and history, either by themselves or with the help of one of the guides.

We also offer a range of affiliated courses for those interested in learning as well as activities for those looking to have a bit of fun.

Ask us to arrange a supplier of water sports equipment. The Canoe Centre is located just 10km away from us here in Killeshandra.

Horse Riding

You can learn a lot from a horse...
You just get a certain perspective from up there!
This part of Ireland is home to a fine equestrian tradition and many a horse-lover. With several well-established equestrian centres in Cavan we can say with confidence that we have the right horse for you and riders of any age or expertise. The counties kind horses really show off the county at a different pace, and allow you see certain views hidden from lowly walkers. Of course, it’s the fine horses themselves that are the greatest thrill.
From show-jumpers to hardy upland ponies, Cavan is a great place to unleash your inner equestrian. And if you still haven’t had enough of your saddle after a good day across our rugged country, Cavan is also home to the World’s only saddle makers’ museum… Some people around here are just horse-mad.

Walks

Ask us to plan guided walks or cycles. Or just help you plan your route.
Cavan is a walker's place.
Walk along lake-dotted landscapes or atmospheric forests with a flask of coffee and a companion or three. Visit the UNESCO Geopark, a special place spanning the uplands of Cavan and Fermanagh. A highlight is Cavan Burren Park and its four marked trails. By foot, Neolithic Ireland reveals itself quietly as you stroll along. Cycle the ‘Killykeen Way’ a gloriously beautiful 12km cycle trail linking Killykeen Forest Park with the village of Killeshandra.

Perhaps walk the 26km Cavan Way from Dowra to Blacklion past the Shannon Pot – the source of the mighty River Shannon.

We will provide Cavan Walking Guide for maps and information and keep an eye out for the Cavan Walking Festival which takes place every May.
